Universities and Public Research Centres in the SORRISO network have expertise in the Research and Development of innovative materials. Their scientific and technical interplay contributes to achieving high standards of innovation and competitiveness in the field of applied bio-nanotechnologies.
Department of Neuroscience and Reproductive and Odontostomatological Sciences

The Department consists of many sections among which, those of Odontostomatological and Maxillofacial Science are involved in basic and clinical research programmes to study the interaction between cells, tissue and biomaterials, and the characterization of nanostructure surfaces for dentistry. These sections have a research laboratory of tissue engineering and biomaterials equipped with an atomic-force microscope, a device for computerized micro-tomographies and an area reserved for rapid prototyping.

Biostructures and Biosystems National Institute (I.N.B.B.) - Interuniversity Consortium

The Interuniversity Consortium “Istituto Nazionale Biostrutture e Biosistemi” (INBB – Biostructures and Biosystems National Institute) aims to promote and coordinate research and other scientific activities and applications in the field of Biostructures and Biosystems
UNISA Faculty of Engineering – Department Industrial Engineering

The research activity of the department focuses on the consolidation and innovation in industrial processing mainly for the food industry. Several research groups are involved in programmes funded by public and private grants to study: functional and structured polymeric materials, innovative chemical processes for the food industry and for energy and the environment.
